The seeds for Bee & Bloom Co. were planted in early 2013, when my daughter was just a few months old. I left a full-time office job for full-time motherhood. I loved being home with my baby and exploring life with her, but I found myself searching for a creative outlet. A friend sold me her old sewing machine for $75, and I got to work learning a new skill. Pretty soon there were homemade curtains, pillows, slightly crooked dresses and tiny hair bows all over our apartment.
It wasn't until I visited the Renegade Craft Fair a few months later that I realized the potential to build my hobby into a business. The next day I set up my Etsy shop and started selling the hair bows I had been making for my daughter.
A few years later, our circumstances have changed along with my career goals. We've added a baby boy to the mix and I've expanded my vision for Bee & Bloom Co.
What started as a hobby and an excuse to make tons of hair bows for my daughter has has grown into am opportunity to achieve my dream of building a small business from the ground up.
Selling my handcrafted hair bows and bowties from home allows me to be home with my children during the precious early years of their blooming childhood while continuing to work at my personal career goals at the same time. It is the best of both worlds, and I am so grateful for every who supports me in the journey: my husband, my children and my amazing customers!
